5 Months

Posted by admin

Today marks 5 months since dad’s transition. As the months go by, there are ups and downs. We all miss Sam and we are reminded daily of the marks that he left on this world. I am encouraged by the emails that we receive and only have the hopes of living up to the legacy he left behind.

Dad’s Book, “Physician Heal Thyself” is in full motion and will be in print by the end of the year. There have been changes in our lives that have slowed the progress, but I promise I will have it in print before the end of the year.

Mom and I are in the process of moving to the new houses and the West University house will go on the market August 1st. The move is a transition, but it also weights on our hearts. Luckily, Amanda has come down to Houston for two weeks to help with the move and offer encouragement.

On Monday, July 28th, Mom will celebrate her 56th birthday at her new house. With the new house also comes a new adventure of living solo. She is not completely by herself since her two dogs are always around to offer company.

If anyone is ever in Houston, Mom is always open to lunch or dinner.

Dear Friends,
Just yesterday I was really thinking about how much I missed father and how it has been one month this week since Grandma passed away. This has been a rough week for us—two of our cars broke down, Brendan is on crutches from his foot injury, and we lost our second bid on a house.
Then I was thinking more about all Dad did for those with cancer and I just heard moments ago that Bobby Murcer passed away. He was the voice of the New York Yankees and one of the followers of the double whammy therapy that father started. I met Mr. Murcer and his wife at a book signing in May in New York City. They are amazing people. Father spent a lot of time with Murcer and really hoped for the best for him. Father did ask that mother keep up with the Murcers through their journey. I can imagine what the family is going through, it brings me back to Feb. 25th. Bobby Murcer wrote a book this Spring and there is a chapter (Ch. 19) about his time with my father (see below for info. on the book). Here is also a link to an article on Bobby Murcer written today. Please keep Kay (Mrs. Murcer) and the kids in your thoughts and prayers. 2008 has been a hard year, but I know they are having a huge party up in heaven!!! Miss you all a ton.
